How to Manage Stress During The Coronavirus Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has engulfed the world. What started as an outbreak in Wuhan, China in December 2019 has now affected 200 countries and territories globally. Europe and the United States being the most affected of all. About 3 billion all over the world are locked in their houses as the virus is very contagious. That means half of the world under quarantine. It is frightening but that doesn’t mean we should panic. Instead, the situation calls for us to be more vigilant in combating the condition. 

Millions infected and multitudes of thousands have died across the globe. COVID-19 has created a pandemonium that has brought the world to a virtual standstill. The United States has reported more COVID-19 positive cases than any other country in the world. It is time for us to act and stop downplaying the situation. Other than the serious implications on people’s health, the coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected millions of businesses across the world. It doesn’t take much for your thoughts to spiral in a negative direction during these circumstances. Here are a few ways to help you survive the stress and anxiety that come during uncertain times. 

Start by Stop Obsessing Over The Situation

Most of your stress and anxiety is because of your obsession of this pandemic. So, firstly you need to avoid thinking over the coronavirus situation. I am not saying that you shouldn’t learn about what is happening in the world but do not give up your life and hook yourself to coronavirus news all the time. It is understandable that with no work and social obligations to take care of, you have a lot of time in your hands. You don’t want to spend it obsessing over a virus. 

Also, avoid rumors. With so much confusion and indecisiveness around the virus, there has been a lot of fake news circulating especially on social media. So, rather than trusting these untrustable pieces of information, it is for the best that you get information from a trusted source like the World Health Organization website. Again try limiting yourself to not go digging deep into the pandemic situation. 

Take Time For Yourself

We are living in an age where we rarely get time for ourselves. Maybe it is our lifestyle or work culture but more often than or not we are engrossed in so many things that we forget to treat ourselves right. So, take this opportunity of being locked in your own house to work on yourself. The situation may seem intimidating as you are used to keeping yourself busy everyday but this is the time where you get to work on yourself. The idleness may get to you so I suggest you to wake up on time, exercise a little, get yourself a hobby and keep busy. Don’t slack it off, that may be more stressful. 

Instead, take me for example, I recently got myself the best recumbent exercise bike which I am making full use of today. It keeps me fit during quarantine. I suggest you do the same. It will keep you active and less anxious. Wake up and go to bed at the same time. Have shower, meals, and workout regime same as you did before. This would surely benefit you in a number of ways. 

Yoga & Meditation

Are you into Yoga or meditation? If not, then there is always a first time. And time is something you have in abundance right now. With the stress and anxiety of the pandemonium, you can use yoga and meditation to relax and find the peace you are looking for.  

It is quite helpful. Give yoga and meditation at least 30 minutes of your day and see it helping you find a physical and mental balance. Not just that, it is one of the best ways to spend your time. Generally we all follow a routine where you don’t even have a time to have an extra thought, meditation will help you rejuvenate and focus on the things that actually matter in your life. It is very effective, surely give it a try. 

Go on a Cleaning Spree

Cleaning is one of the most satisfying feelings. It gives the person a peace that is like nothing else. There is a very popular saying, “A person with a chaotic house has a chaotic mind.” Several research and studies say that an unclean and chaotic house results in stress. If you like cleaning, then go for it. Everyday try cleaning one part of the house. 

It will not just keep your house organized but also will keep you busy.  It will keep you engrossed in work which will help you keep your mind off from all the stress and tensions. Keep your house tidy and take full care of your hygiene. So stay safe, stay healthy.
